Dancer from the Dance. by: Andrew Holleran. Publisher: New American Library Trade. ISBN 0452261295. Although a work of fiction, most readers of this book seem to agree that it accurately describes what is probably the first of the gay male "circuit party" scenes: Manhattan and Fire Island during the 1970s.

Last Night A DJ Saved My Life. The History of the Disc Jockey. by: Bill Brewster and Frank Broughton. Publisher: Grove Press. ISBN 0802136885. Comments: Co-Author Bill Brewster has visited this site recently and has E-mailed me about the book. Here is a excerpt from his letter: ".... Judging by what I've read on yours, I think you'd appreciate quite a lot of the stuff we've written (12 West gets a mention). I was very saddened to read that Jimmy Stuard had died in the fire at Everard's. I never knew this. In fact, we left Jimmy out of our book because we weren't able to find out much information about him (it probably won't surprise you to learn that disco is still regarded as something of a dirty word in the US.). One of the many people we interviewed for the book was Tom Moulton and I recall him mentioning Jimmy Stuard: 'One of my favourite places was 12 West, because I loved the DJ there. His name was Jimmy Stuard. Jimmy was really something.'...."
